Semi-evergreen twining climber, vanilla scented deep puce flowers Mar-May and sometimes strange edible purplish fruits which do taste of mild melon-flavoured tapioca, 3-5m. "Nothing quite so insulting as, "Semi-evergreen"", disproved.

Each pretty palmately-held leaflet is covered with random cream variegation. Heavy clusters of plum-purple flowers Mar-May, climber, 2-5m. The variegation is less obvious on young growth.

AKEBIA QUINATA X HOLBOELLIA LATIFOLIA
Fruits borne 9/9/09 on my single Akebia quinata bush can only have been pollinated by crossing with the adjacent Holboellia latifolia in flower at the same time. We'll see!
