A. odora x A. portei. Clumps of giant, green, heavily-scalloped foliage on muscular purple stalks, 1-2m. Moist rich organic soil is best. A good thick winter mulch helps prevent rot in cold, wet soils.

Tight clumps of heavily veined glossy bronze-green leaves with purple reverses 30 x 20cm, From the highlands of New Guinea - it should be hardy in UK. Described in 1916 but rare in cultivation.
