ISOPYRUM NIPPONICUM

Ranunculaceae

Soft pale yellowish leaves purple tinted when young, little flowers have a strange fleshy yellow corolla inside the purple calyx - for a parallel, think the reduced 'nectary' petals of hellebores. Seeds around amiably.

Small white up-facing flowers Mar-May, 10cm. Dainty anemone-like plant related to thalictrum. Upland woods, Central Europe. Can be established in rough grassland and under trees. RHS Hardiness Rating: H7 .
